ONTARIO – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc. is proud to announce that Ben and Theresa Williams have been selected as the 2021 Richland County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award recipients.

They were honored on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 2131 Park Avenue West in Ontario, surrounded by Area Agency on Aging staff and friends.
Representative Marilyn John presented the Williamses with a commendation and personally thanked them for their selfless contribution to their community. Board of Trustees Richland Representative, Jana Mulherin, and Advisory Council Chair, Marcia Rice were also in attendance.

Nominated by their lifelong friends, Brenda and Lester Clancy, the Williamses’ acts of altruism benefit individuals throughout Mansfield. In memory of their daughter, Candice, they have founded the Candice Williams Foundation, which provides free Thanksgiving dinner to their community each year.

They open their hearts and their home for anyone in need. Samaritans of the community, the Williamses transport, cook, clean, and mow lawns for the elderly.

Each year the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency’s service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot.)

Awardees are selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community-made after reaching age 60.
