Youngstown's Students Caught in Crossfire
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today wrote a letter to the Youngstown Board of Education expressing deep concerns about the ongoing teachers strike, which started on August 23rd.
“With the strike now in its 16th day, the community is losing valuable in-person learning hours, affecting Youngstown's students, while also providing no progress in negotiations,” said Rep. McNally. “As board members, you possess the power to create a leadership structure that best supports Youngstown students. I strongly urge you to exercise the authority necessary to give our kids the future they deserve.”
Rep. McNally emphasizes the need for strong leadership at all levels to resolve this stalemate, especially from elected representatives responsible for our children's public education.
Additionally, Rep. McNally questions whether the current leadership is effectively working with all stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for Youngstown students, both during negotiations and throughout the academic year.
