Rep. McNally announces $37,259 in First Responder Grants for Goshen, Smith Townships
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $37,259 in funding for the Goshen Township Police Department and the Smith Township Police Department as part of Ohio’s 2023 First Responder Grants.
“The police are on the front line of protecting our community” said Rep. McNally. “I am always working to bring tax dollars home for law enforcement, to keep our families and friends safe.”
The grants are awarded as part of the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program, offered to combat the effects of inflation and COVID-related economic impacts. The program is funded with $250 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. The $23,086 awarded to Goshen Township and $14,173 awarded to Smith Township will assist law enforcement agencies with recruitment, new officer training and staffing shortages. The grants will also support police emotional and physical wellbeing due to issues arising from the line of duty.
