Rep. Whitted Commends Supreme Court's Decision Supporting Reproductive Freedom
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jodi Whitted (D-Madeira) today commends the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on access to the abortion pill mifepristone, which has been used by more than five million people in the United States.
“Reproductive healthcare is healthcare. I am elated to hear about SCOTUS’ decision and that viable, effective, and safe medications are not being limited by extreme arguments and extremist views. Two years ago, when Roe v. Wade was overturned a lot of people felt scared and confused about what they had autonomy over; I think this decision shows that we should never stop fighting for our reproductive freedom,” said Rep. Whitted.
The drug mifepristone has been found to be even safer and more effective by the Food and Drug Administration since it was originally approved in 2000.
Wherever you come from and whatever your background, as Americans, House Democrats know people should have the fundamental freedom to make decisions about their bodies and health care.
