Rep. Whitted Celebrates $16M Expansion of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Across Ohio
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jodi Whitted (D-Madeira) today applauds the announcement of 22 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to be built along Ohio’s interstates, state routes, and US routes thanks largely to the second round of federal funding from President Joe Biden’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program.
“I am excited to see that the NEVI Program has continued its investment in Ohio. This is a great opportunity, not only for our environment, but for our economy as well. Public access to alternative energy sources is vital and I am happy to see the federal government and Ohio investing in this important cause,” said Rep. Whitted.
The funds that helped make Ohio the first state in the nation to develop charging stations is thanks to support of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s efforts on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The addition of these new stations moves Ohio closer to its goal of locating fast chargers every 50 miles throughout the state.
Elective vehicles will help us meet ambitious climate goals, while providing good-paying jobs and economic stimulus to the state.
