Annual Department of Education and Workforce Report Card for District 28 Announced by Rep. Whitted
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Jodi Whitted (D-Madeira) today announced that the Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) has released 2023-2024 School Report Card data. Report cards are designed to give parents, communities, educators, and policymakers information about the performance of districts and schools — to celebrate achievement and success as well as identify areas for improvement.
“Supporting and properly funding public schools is vital to the success of our children and our communities. I am so happy to see the schools of this district be praised for their accomplishments and given guidance on where they can improve. When we improve our schools, we improve outcomes for every child in them. I am a proud member of the Ohio House Primary and Secondary Education Committee and will continue to fight for our public schools,” said Rep. Whitted.
The Ohio General Assembly amended Ohio’s accountability law in the summer of 2021. Starting in 2022, schools began using a 1–5 star rating system in five categories: achievement, progress, early literacy, gap closing, and graduation.
Ohio House Democrats have introduced the Learning & Education Advancement Package (LEAP) Initiative, legislation to reaffirm K-12 public education as a Democratic priority, setting goals and standards for our education system. House Democrats are committed to creating a state that works for and supports all Ohio children’s education, regardless of race, gender, income, and zip code.
