State Rep. Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) spearheaded House Bill 203, also known as the License Recognition Act, which will make it easier for individuals with occupational licenses to move to Ohio. Powell spoke to the bill on the House floor on Wednesday before its passage.

“Enacting license recognition will make it easier for individuals to practice their trade in our communities here in Ohio,” said Powell. “By passing HB 203, we recognize that individuals do not lose their skills when they cross state lines, and we send a bold message to the rest of the country that Ohio is open for business.”

House Bill 203 reforms occupational licensing to remove excessive regulations and barriers, ensuring that individuals who hold a license in good standing in their state can receive reciprocity in Ohio.

The bill cuts red tape to allow workers to use their skills and encourage businesses and entrepreneurs to move to Ohio.

House Bill 203 now heads to the Senate for further consideration.
