Powell Supports Senate Bill 311
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jena Powell today announced House passage of Senate Bill 311, legislation that limits the power of the Department of Health (ODH). The bill now heads to the governor.
“This is another big win for Ohioans,” said Powell. “It is far past time the legislature reigns in the power of the executive branch, and Senate Bill 311 helps restore checks and balances during the pandemic.”
Senate Bill 311 allows ODH to only issue quarantine and isolation orders to Ohioans who are sick or who have been directly exposed to the disease.
The legislation also provides additional legislative oversight of certain ODH orders by giving the General Assembly the ability to rescind the orders through the adoption of a concurrent resolution.
“I will continue to support common-sense legislation that restores the balance of power in our government,” added Powell.
