Powell Issues Statement on Supreme Court Draft Opinion

State Rep. Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) has issued the following statement regarding the leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft regarding Roe v. Wade: 

“Every unborn child has the right to life. If the Supreme Court’s draft opinion overturning Roe and Casey reflects the Court’s final ruling, it will represent a historic victory for the rights of the unborn and the pro-life movement. While the draft decision is cause for celebration, I eagerly await the Court’s official decision. 

“Throughout my time as a State Representative, I have worked tirelessly to protect innocent life in Ohio. During this General Assembly, I introduced the '2363 Act,' which will offer full protection to the 2,363 unborn children killed every day by abortion. The Ohio House Pro-Life Caucus is committed to defending the rights of the unborn, and the Ohio House stands ready and eager to pass legislation to fully protect the unborn. After decades of Roe influencing U.S. law, the decision to overturn it is long overdue. 

“All of us should pray for our state and country as this discussion advances in the coming weeks. The fight to preserve human life continues.”
