COLUMBUS - State Rep. Ismail Mohamed (D-Columbus) today announced his appointment to the Ohio Indigent Defense System Task Force. The mission of the Indigent Defense System Task Force is to provide recommendations to the General Assembly regarding the delivery, structure, and funding of indigent defense in Ohio.
“I am grateful to have been appointed to the Indigent Defense System Task Force,” said Rep. Mohamed. “Access to quality indigent defense is an important tenet of our legal system and rights. I look forward to working with other members of the task force to assess how we can improve upon the structures in place that provide Ohioans the right to counsel.”
The Ohio Indigent Defense System Task Force was established in the 134th General Assembly by House Bill 150. The Indigent Defense System Task Force consists of 17 members, including six members from the Ohio General Assembly.
