Representative Gayle Manning Announces Funds for the Grafton Correctional Institution
COLUMBUS— State Representative Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) announced today that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved funds for a greenhouse project at the Grafton Correctional Institution (GCI) in Grafton, Ohio. This money will go toward the construction of a new greenhouse to facilitate the hands-on portion of the Horticulture program at the Grafton Reintegration Center (GRC).
“A new greenhouse for the Horticulture program enables individuals to gain workforce development skills while they are incarcerated,” Manning said. "Equipping individuals with skills is one way to prepare them for re-entry into society. I am pleased to see the development of this project.”
The controlling board released $26,103.50 to furnish and install one pre-galvanized steel greenhouse structure.
GCI is a correctional facility operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction located at 2500 Avon Belden Road in Grafton, Ohio. GCI opened in 1988 and currently houses over 1,538 male inmates.
