Click's Memorial Highway Legislation Approved by General Assembly
State Rep. Gary Click (R-Vickery) supported House Bill 578 today, which includes the representative’s legislation creating the Teresa Miller-Martin 9/11 Memorial Highway. The bill was approved by the General Assembly on Wednesday.
House Bill 578 is a larger road-naming and license plate bill that included Click’s House Bill 393, creating the memorial highway in honor of Teresa Miller-Martin.
“I’m honored to memorialize Teresa with the passage of today’s bill,” Click said. “This designation will let her memory live on and be a tribute to her and all the others who perished on that infamous day.”
The legislation designates a portion of State Route 19 in Miller-Martin’s name. Miller-Martin was originally a 1974 graduate of Lakota High School who grew up in the small town of Millersville. After high school, Teresa went on to become a model for JC Penny. She moved on to the Post Office before accepting a position that led to her career in finance. Ultimately, she accepted a job at Fort Belvedere and shortly after, she joined her supervisor as they were moved to the Pentagon.
The bill now heads to the governor to be signed into law.
