Ohio House Passes Bill to Designate the Specialist Five Frederick Wayne Taylor Memorial Highway
COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives recently passed House Bill 380, legislation that will name twenty-nine roads and bridges throughout Ohio, announced State Rep. Don Jones (R-Freeport).
Included in the bill is House Bill 299, sponsored by Jones, which will designate a portion of State Route 7 in Washington County as the Specialist Five Frederick Wayne Taylor Memorial Highway. “Butch” Taylor, a Marietta, Ohio native, was killed in action on May 15, 1968, in Vietnam at the age of 23.
“Young people today can learn a lot from the sacrifice of Butch Taylor. When your country calls upon you, there is nothing more heroic than answering the call and making the ultimate sacrifice,” said Jones.
SP5 Taylor is forever memorialized on panel 61E, line 3 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The legislation now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
