COLUMBUS- The Ohio House of Representatives today passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state. The Capital Budget will make historic investments in local community projects, announced State Rep. Don Jones (R-Freeport).
Jones championed the following capital investments that will positively impact Belmont County and the surrounding areas:
- $1 million to the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department;
- $500,000 to revitalize the Sargus Center, replacing aging infrastructure;
- $200,000 to improve Commerce Park by adding pickleball courts and an amphitheater, fostering opportunities for fun and enjoyment;
- $75,000 to upgrade the Barnesville Train Depot, preserving infrastructure for the enjoyment of generations to come; and
- $24,900 to rejuvenate VFW Post 5565, preserving a common meeting space for veterans.
“These investments provide continued support to keep up with infrastructure projects and support our first responders,” said Jones.
In addition to these local investments, this legislation also includes additional statewide capital investments of:
$600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund;
$400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program; and
