COLUMBUS— Today the Ohio State Controlling Board approved funding for public roadwork improvements in Harrison County. The Controlling Board also approved funding for renovations at the Belmont Correctional Institution.

The news is welcomed by State Representative Don Jones (R-Freeport), who advocated for these funds during negotiations over both the state transportation budget, House Bill 74 and Ohio’s capital budget, House Bill 597.

“It is important to make necessary improvements to both our roadways and our facilities,” Jones said. “When it’s time for an improvement, we must make changes. That is why I advocated for these funds throughout this General Assembly.”

The road improvements in Harrison County will bring 25 new, full-time jobs to the community in order to make the roads safer to travel. This project is set to receive $150,000 in FY 2023.

Belmont Correctional Institute is set to receive $1,567,435 for the construction phase of the Electrical Renovations Upgrade Project. The project seeks to repair various electrical infrastructure within the facility and replace different pieces of equipment in their mechanical room.
