Jones Announces Funding for Marietta Police and Fire Departments
COLUMBUS— State Representative Don Jones (R-Freeport) supports the delegation of $127,750 to the Marietta Police and Fire Departments for employees to attend sessions with a crisis counselor.
The funding stems from the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program. The program comes as a result of House Bill 169, which Jones co-sponsored and supported in an effort to appropriate discretionary funds provided by the federal government.
“I have been a volunteer fireman and EMT for nearly 30 years, so I understand how difficult it can be for first responders to cope with certain crises,” Jones said. “This will be an incredible way to support first responders and show them the compassion they may need.”
The Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program has so far awarded $20.9 million in funding to 117 Ohio agencies through four rounds. The $9.9 million in awards from this most recent round will go to 62 local agencies.
