Board Approves Funding for Two Projects in Belmont County
COLUMBUS – The State Controlling Board has approved the release of $130,000.00 for two projects in St. Clairsville, Belmont County.
The first of the two projects will provide improvements to the Campus Safety Project at the Belmont College Campus. $50,000.00 will be allocated from capital funds to provide the college with a high-volume ID printing system to facilitate providing all students and faculty with an identification badge.
“This funding will help improve safety at the college by providing all faculty, visitors and students with an identification badge,” said Jones. “Safety is our number one priority on all campuses across the state and I am happy to see this funding help increase safety by bolstering security.”
Secondly, $80,000.00 will be allocated to help obtain ambulance services from the Cumberland Trail Fire District for the incarcerated population at the Belmont Correctional Institute.
Belmont Correctional Institute currently houses 2,500 male prisoners and COVID-19 has caused an increase in the facilities need for ambulance transportation.
“Our correctional facilities must have an adequate ambulance service to serve inmates who require emergency services and this funding will ensure quality care is available to incarcerated individuals at Belmont Correctional Institute,” added Jones.
