Honoring heroes: Byers Brothers Memorial Highway dedicated to family of five military servicemen
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio State Representative Don Jones and the Byers family held a dedication ceremony Friday on Ohio 800 in Belmont County.
The ceremony marked the introduction of the roadway as the Byers Brothers Memorial Highway.
The highway will honor the five brothers who served in the United States military.
They served both inside the U.S. and around the globe during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.
"For a family to have four accomplished military personnel, you know, during that time period, it was quite an honor,” Jones said. “We just want to give them the honor that they earned and deserved.
"We just want to give them something to be proud of and their family to be proud of because it's a big deal."
The highway runs between the intersections of Ohio 148 and Mann Ridge Road.
