Rep. Tims Announces $1K Grant for Dayton MLK Day Service Project
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Desiree Tims (D-Dayton) today celebrated ServeOhio, Ohio’s commission on service and volunteerism, as it has awarded a $1K grant to the Wright-Patt Credit Union’s Sunshine Community Fund to support its MLK Day of Service project in Dayton.
25 volunteers will gather at The Hope Center located at 1800 Harvard Blvd to package health and wellness bags for community distribution.
"MLK Day is a day on, not a day off," said Rep. Tims. "I am thrilled that the Sunshine Community Fund will have an opportunity to demonstrate and embody the very ideals of community service and compassion for our neighbors. I hope that everyone joins us in celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on this day of service."
This year, ServeOhio is funding 22 service projects across 17 Ohio cities. These projects will engage more than 1,600 volunteers to create positive change.
