Swearingen Issues Statement for Local Drug Task Force Funding
State Rep D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) has issued the following statement for local drug task force funding announced for Ottawa County to support reducing drug use and provide substance abuse awareness and prevention:
“We have prioritized not only reducing crime across Erie and Ottawa Counties at the Statehouse but also to bring focus on the issues of substance abuse and mental health issues in our state. With significant funding put into these areas, I believe this comprehensive approach will help reduce overdoses and continue to provide solutions to mental health issues here in our state.”
Swearingen sits on the House Finance Committee, the body that oversaw the state budget bill that included this funding. The representative’s statement comes after it was announced the Ottawa County Regional Task Force is set to receive $114,144 from the RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund.
