State Rep D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) announces significant funding for the Perkins Township Police Department to help reduce violent crime throughout the community. The funding stems from the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.

“I believe it is very important to properly fund our law enforcement and I have supported several initiatives at the Statehouse that have done just that,” Swearingen said. “This critical funding is going to assist the Perkins Township Police Department to fight crime and protect our residents and families within our local community.”

Swearingen supported House Bill 110, the state operating budget, which is funding the program to assist local law enforcement in finding solutions to reduce violent crime. The program funding will help the department in recruiting new officers, maintaining staffing levels and providing various assistance to prevent violent crime.

The Perkins Township Police Department Office is set to receive $268,857 through the grant program.

Overall, the program will be awarding a total of $58 million across the state. This most recent round of funding awarded $5.7 million to 16 local and state law enforcement agencies, including the Perkins Township Police Department.
