Rep. Christine Cockley Says Real State of the State is Ohioans Deserve Better

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Christine Cockley (D-Columbus) today responded to Governor DeWine’s State of the State address:

“The governor’s State of the State address included proposals that will benefit Ohioans, but it overlooked some of the most pressing challenges and vulnerable residents in House District 6. Too many people are being taxed out of their homes, struggling to afford basic necessities, and working in jobs without essential workplace protections. It’s not enough to talk about these priorities. We must take real action to address them,” said Rep. Cockley. “When elected officials prioritize harmful policies like Senate Bill 1, which threatens our education system and the rights of hardworking professors and students, we ignore the real issues facing our communities. I appreciate the governor’s recognition of these concerns, and the bipartisan applause suggests that many of my colleagues share his vision. However, if we truly want Ohio to be the best place to live, work, and raise a family, we must do more for our schools, our children, our families, and our communities. Ohioans deserve better.”

House Democrats are committed to making sure people deserve better: better pay, better healthcare, fairer taxes, safer communities, real opportunities, and a future where no one is held back.
