Lorenz Supports Override of Governor Veto of HB 68
COLUMBUS—State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine.
Vetoed by the Governor Dec. 29, House Bill 68 will protect children who are experiencing gender dysphoria from sex change procedures including chemical castration through puberty blockers, and invasive surgical procedures. It also includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which provides safeguards for women’s-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.
Lorenz released the following statement about the vote:
“This was an natural decision to support overturning the Governor’s veto,” said Lorenz. “Minors shouldn’t be making life-changing medical decisions and women shouldn’t have to compete against biological males. Now this legislation is on its way to becoming law so children will be protected the integrity to women’s sports will return.”
