Lorenz Introduces 9/11 Remembrance Day to House Committee
COLUMBUS— State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) presented legislation to honor the fallen and heroism of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to the House State and Local Government Committee Tuesday.
The legislation, 9/11 Remembrance Day, will be a day mourning on Sept. 11 of each year to honor the lives of those lost in the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93. The legislation will also honor the first responders, National Guard members and other heroes who selflessly responded to the attacks.
“The tragedy that struck that day is the worst our Nation has ever experienced and touched the lives of all Ohioans,” said Lorenz. “This legislation will establish a day in Ohio for us all to take a moment to remember those that lost their lives and the brave men and women that responded to help those in need.”
9/11 Remembrance Day will be observed along side Patriot Day, which was established for the same purpose by the Federal government Sept. 11, 2002.
The legislation awaits additional hearings in the committee.
