Lorenz Announces Funding Coming to Delaware County to Preserve Farmland

Brian Lorenz News

COLUMBUS— State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) announces the Delaware County Commissioners have been awarded $200,000 in Clean Ohio Agriculture Easement funds for the purchase of agricultural easements in the county.

These funds will be used to place easements on private farmland to preserve agricultural operations. The easement limits the use of the land while the land remains under private ownership and management. And the easement remains on the land even upon sale of the land.

“The Clean Ohio Agriculture Easement Purchase Program helps farmers financially preserve farming the land forever,” said Lorenz. “Ohio has an economy centered around agriculture and our current generation of farmers are retiring. These easements will ensure farming operations continue into the foreseeable future.”

On average, the program selects 54 farms statewide each funding round. Delaware County’s funding is apart of more than $474,000 issued this round to help preserve farming land in Ohio.
