Senate Adopts Resolution to Honor Col. William J. Cavanaugh
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Senate today adopted a resolution, sponsored by State Representatives Brian Lampton (R-Beavercreek) and Mary Lightbody (D-Westerville), honoring a military leader whose innovative work left a legacy that continues to benefit our nation’s security and research at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB).
House Concurrent Resolution 32 seeks to recognize Col. William J. Cavanaugh for his contribution to the design and architecture of the Bio Acoustics Laboratory at WPAFB.
“Wright Patterson would not be would it is today without Col. Cavanaugh’s innovation and dedication to expanding opportunities for our military,” Lampton said. “I am grateful to the Senate committee members for their speedy consideration and adoption of this important resolution.”
In 1955, Col. Cavanaugh was a leader in the design and construction of the AFRL Bio Acoustics Laboratory, which is used today to study battlefield acoustics and develop new technology in an environment without echoes and of near silence. This space is one of the quietest rooms in the world.
