Reps. Liston and Galonski urge passage of HB 165 this National Health Education Week
COLUMBUS – State Reps. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) and Beth Liston (D-Dublin) issued statements today encouraging the Ohio House Primary and Secondary Education Committee to take action and pass House Bill (HB) 165 out of committee. HB 165 would require health education standards in school systems across the state. It was introduced in March 2019.
“It’s a shame that when Ohio students walk into their health classes every day, there are no comprehensive health education standards for their class. Providing age appropriate health education to students is absolutely necessary for them to live healthy, productive lives. HB 165 would ensure that students are equipped with the knowledge they need to live their healthiest lives,” said Rep. Galonski.
“Public health is more important than ever. Health education standards would help to provide our kids with the tools they need to live happier, healthier lives,” said Rep. Liston.
National Health Education Week takes place this year from Oct. 19 to Oct. 23. National Health Education Week is focused on increasing national awareness on major public health issues and promoting a better understanding of the role of health education.
