Extreme Legislation Bans Health Care, Medical Decisions With Veto Override & Executive Order

January 10, 2024
Beth Liston News

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Beth Liston MD PhD (D-Dublin) today denounces the passage of the veto override for House Bill (HB) 68, anti-trans legislation, and DeWine’s proposed care restrictions on gender affirming care.

“This action ignores thousands of Ohioans who reached out to share their personal private stories in order to keep the government out of their healthcare. House Bill 68 and the executive orders strip people of their parental rights, bodily autonomy, and will harm young people across our state,” said Rep. Liston.

HB 68 was passed in both the Ohio House and Senate, but vetoed by Governor DeWine at the end of December 2023.

Governor DeWine issued an executive order on January 5, 2024 that further limits access to care.

Rep. Liston’s floor remarks are attached to this release.
