Lear, Lorenz Introduce Road Naming Bill to Honor Veterans

COLUMBUS-State Reps. Beth Lear (R-Galena) and Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) introduced House Bill 294, legislation that will designate the north and southbound lanes of Interstate Route 71 between State Route 36 and the border of Delaware and Morrow counties as the “Delaware County Veterans Memorial Highway.”

“As a veteran myself, it is a great honor to be able to recognize the service of other veterans throughout my home county,” Lear said. “We are pleased to have the support of numerous local veterans’ groups, including the Sunbury American Legion Post 457 and the Delaware County Veterans Association.”

“This designation is one small way we can say “thank you” to generations of veterans for the sacrifices they made in service to our nation,” Lorenz said. “We owe our military members a debt that can never be repaid.”

House Bill 294 will have its first hearing in the House Transportation Committee on Tuesday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m.
