Rep. Brown Piccolantonio Condemns Governor's Statement on Citizens Not Politicians Amendment

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna) today released the following statement concerning Governor Mike DeWine’s failure to support the Citizens Not Politicians citizen-led ballot initiative: 

“Ohio’s current map-drawing process puts politicians over people instead of producing fair district maps that allow voters to elect legislators who reflect their values. In the most recent round of line-drawing, the Redistricting Commission repeatedly advanced unconstitutional maps. I question the timing of a new plan from the governor given the fact that he's had years of serving on the Redistricting Commission and never before suggested this plan. The map-drawing process belongs in the hands of the people,” said Rep. Brown Piccolantonio.
