Ohio Jewish Caucus Mourns Loss of Israeli Embassy Aides Murdered in Washington
COLUMBUS - The Ohio Jewish Caucus today released the following statement concerning the death of two staff members of the Israeli Embassy shot and killed Wednesday night outside a Jewish museum in Washington:
“We are devastated by the loss of Yaron and Sarah and send our deepest sympathies to their families, friends, and their communities. They were just days away from dedicating their lives to each other but now what should have been a blessing for both has turned into a nightmare for many,” said the Ohio Jewish Caucus. “Antisemitism and hatred of any kind has no place in our world. We will honor Yaron and Sarah’s memories by always standing up to evil and never stop advocating for the end of this senseless cycle of hate and violence.”
Antisemitic incidents across the United States have increased dramatically over the past few years with reports of attacks, harassment and vandalism all increasing more than 20% in 2024 from the previous year. Incidents on college and university campuses rose more steeply than those in any other location and incidents at Jewish institutions remained elevated compared to pre-October 7, 2023 figures.
The Ohio Jewish Caucus is proudly represented by Reps. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna), Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati), Christine Cockley (D-Columbus), Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood), Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Township) and Senator Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson).
