Ohio Jewish Caucus Denounces Sen. Bernie Moreno's Use of Nazi Analogy

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Jewish Caucus today released the following statement concerning the use of an offensive Nazi reference by U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) aimed at Minority Leader of the United States Senate Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the highest ranking Jewish person in the U.S. government:

Senator Moreno owes Leader Schumer and Jews across the country, especially here in Ohio, an apology for using a term with such an obvious connotation to the horrific events of the Holocaust. His repugnant behavior does not represent Ohio or serve the people of our state in any way,” said the Ohio Jewish Caucus.

Adolf Hitler was called “Fuhrer,” the German word for leader, by his followers. During World War II, Hitler’s Germany was responsible for the deaths of six million Jews, including dozens of members of Sen. Schumer's own family.

The Ohio Jewish Caucus is proudly represented by Reps. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna), Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati), Christine Cockley (D-Columbus), Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood), Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Township) and Senator Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson).
