COLUMBUS - State Reps. Adam C. Miller (D-Columbus) and Sarah Fowler-Arthur ( R-Geneva-on-the-Lake) today introduced bipartisan legislation that would require schools to file a report with the Ohio Department of Education regarding teachers who retire under threat of investigation for misconduct. Under current law, schools are only required to report when a teacher resigns under threat of termination or nonrenewal of a contract while under investigation.  

COLUMBUS — Reps. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) and Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) today introduced legislation that would establish a grant program to help local courts address issues of human trafficking and forced prostitution. The programs aim to help victims of sexual exploitation break free and to educate johns on the harm forced prostitution has on victims and society. 

Reps. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) and Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today introduced a resolution encouraging Ohio’s schools to retire the use of Native American mascots and to engage Native American groups as part of that process.

COLUMBUS– Correctional Institution Inspection Committee Members State Senators Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus), Sandra Williams (D-Cleveland) and State Reps. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) Vice Chair, Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati) today called for a full investigation and accounting of the death of Michael McDaniel while in the care of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC).  The Democratic members also called for a hearing to hear directly from ODRC regarding the death of Mr. McDaniel and the steps being taken to hold those guilty accountable and to prevent future violence.

COLUMBUS—Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) issued a statement Tuesday following the passage of the state budget, House Bill 110. The bill includes more than $1.64 billion tax giveaway to largely benefit the wealthiest Ohioans and increases funding for the state’s EdChoice Voucher Program, which undermines public education in Ohio.

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Adam C. Miller (D-Columbus) today praised the House passage of House Bill (HB) 190, also known as the “Ohio Veterans’ Heritage Protection Act,” his legislation that would protect cannons or other artillery, statues, monuments, memorials, or plaques that have been placed by the public to commemorate a war or service in a war. 

State Reps. Adam C. Miller (D-Columbus) and Casey Weinstein (D–Hudson) today introduced legislation that would create a Hate Crimes Bureau within the Attorney General’s office in response to a recent increase in hate crimes in Ohio.

With Ohio’s new no duty to retreat law set to take effect Tuesday, Democratic Reps. Adam C. Miller (D-Columbus) and Thomas West (D-Canton) today renewed their call to Statehouse leaders to pass House Bill (HB) 38, their legislation to repeal Ohio’s new “shoot first” law, which passed in December 2020.

COLUMBUS— Today, Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) introduced legislation that would provide legal protections for Guardians ad litem (GAL) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).  These are advocates appointed by a judge to determine what is in the best interest of a party, usually minors or adults subject to guardianship, who does not have an attorney of their own. Currently, these advocates are not afforded the same protections as officers of the court like judges and attorneys.

Today, Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) signed on as a co-sponsor to the Ohio Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that would protect LGBTQ+ Ohioans from discrimination in employment, housing and accommodations. A previous version of the Ohio Fairness Act (The Equal Housing and Employment Act) passed the Ohio House of Representatives on Sept. 15, 2009, with bipartisan support. Last General Assembly, the Ohio Fairness Act had 3 hearings but did not receive a committee vote.
