Rep. Adam Miller announces state investments coming to Franklin County
COLUMBUS – State Representative Adam Miller (D-Columbus) today announced the House passage of the $3.5 billion capital appropriations budget (House Bill 687) for fiscal years 2023-2024. The capital budget appropriates resources to state owned infrastructure, colleges, universities and school districts, as well as other community projects. Rep. Miller is a senior member of the House Finance Committee, which creates the capital budget, and pushed for projects that focused on dedicating funds for human services.
“These funds will improve our community by directly investing in front line human service providers,” said Rep. Miller. “Investing in our youth, working to reduce homelessness, and helping victims of human-trafficking will make our community better for everyone.”
The capital appropriations budget includes $191 million for community projects, a number of which will benefit Franklin County, including:
· Highland Youth Garden’s Center $50,000
· Van Buren Center Restoration $500,000
· Gracehaven – Multipurpose Building $2,500,000
· Lifecare Alliance $50,000
· Veterans Memorial at Rose Run Park $100,000
· YWCA Family Center - Columbus $100,000
· Star House $200,000
· Harriet’s Hope $300,000
· Columbus Museum of Art $350,000
· Refuge Residential Capacity Expansion $400,000
· Kitchen of Life $450,000
· Goodwill Columbus $500,000
· Zora’s House $600,000
· Boundless Health Campus Expansion $900,000
· Girl Scouts of Ohio $1,500,000
· Recreational Trials $3,400,000
The capital budget now moves to the Senate for further consideration before heading to the Governor’s desk.
