State Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) today announced he has been selected to serve on the Ohio House Transportation and Public Safety Committee, a legislative panel tasked with shaping the state’s public policy governing Ohio’s roads, highways, infrastructure and driving laws.

“Our economic success and public safety largely depend on having reliable, modern infrastructure and commonsense laws that keep drivers and pedestrians safe,” said Miller. “I look forward to strengthening our state, and moving us forward in the right direction through my work on the committee. I am honored to have this opportunity.”

Committees are held any time before or after House floor sessions and are open to the public. Some legislative committees, like House Finance Committee, are generally broadcast live on the internet, but House Republicans have yet to approve broadcast of other panels like House Transportation.

“This is only Rep. Miller’s first term in the House, but he’s already distinguished himself as a professional, energetic public servant with the experience to match,” said Rep. Michael Sheehy (D-Oregon), the Democratic leader of the House Transportation and Public Safety Committee. “The committee would be fortunate to have any U.S. Army Reserve Colonel that’s passed the Bar, but from my experience as a Military Administrative Officer I can say with confidence that having a pragmatist like Adam Miller on board does us one better.”

Miller, elected to his first term in November and sworn-in in 2017, is a partner at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister. Miller is also a lieutenant colonel with over 20 years of service in the U.S. Army Reserve, serving as Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps officer.
