State Representatives Stoltzfus and Brown Introduce Legislation Creating the Governor's Office of Drug Policy
COLUMBUS – State Representatives Reggie Stoltzfus (R-Minerva) and Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today introduced House Bill 10, legislation creating the Governor’s Office of Drug Policy.
"This legislation will allow state agencies and local governments to work together utilizing the best methods available for drug treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation," said Rep. Stoltzfus.
HB 10 would create a permanent, centralized office within the Governor’s office to coordinate the state’s drug-related efforts and help support local efforts, including sharing best practices that have made a difference and helping facilitate mutual aid across communities.
“The opioid epidemic in Ohio is tearing families apart, preventing employers from connecting workers to jobs, and leaving newborns with opioid addictions,’ said Rep. Brown. “It is time for state agencies to begin coordinating their efforts to combat this deadly issue so Ohioans have better access to prevention and treatment of addiction.”
HB 10 will now be assigned to a committee and will await its first hearing.
