Rep. Blackshear Announces Nearly $29.5M to Improve Housing Access Across Ohio

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Willis Blackshear (D-Dayton) today announced that nearly $29.5M in awards have been announced to help improve housing access in Ohio. The funding is part of the first round of the Welcome Home Ohio program, which is investing a total of $100M in grants over two years to help landbanks purchase, rehabilitate, or build qualifying residential properties for income-eligible Ohioans. 

“I am excited to announce that the Montgomery County Land Bank received nearly $7 million in grant funding to purchase and rehabilitate single-family homes in the area. These dollars will make 64 single-family units available in our county and will help improve access to affordable housing in our community,” said Rep. Blackshear.

The Welcome Home Ohio program was created in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly in the biennium budget bill, House Bill 33. In total, $29,482,200 in Welcome Home Ohio funding will be awarded to entities in 17 counties to support the creation of 263 owner-occupied, single-family homes.
