Rep. Blackshear Announces Montgomery County has Received $754,520 in Brownfield Remediation Awards
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Willis Blackshear (D-Dayton) today announced that Montgomery County has received $754,520 through the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program to help clean up and redevelop hazardous brownfield sites, creating new employment and development opportunities.
“I am thrilled to see the use of state resources in Montgomery County to help repurpose abandoned and underutilized sites for future redevelopment. These projects are key to the economic development of our region, and we are creating many jobs through this process,” said Rep. Blackshear.
The sites selected for remediation and assessment in Montgomery County are:
- Remediation of Dayton Tire
- Remediation of Orbit Sheet Metal
- Assessment of Tech Town Keowee and Monument Parking Lots
Today’s announcement includes approximately $102.4M for 35 cleanup and remediation projects and roughly $4.5M for 26 assessment projects across 22 counties. Funds awarded will help assess and clean up industrial, commercial, and institutional brownfield sites that have been abandoned, idled, or underutilized due to a known or potential release of hazardous substances or petroleum.
The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program is funded by the Ohio General Assembly as part of the current operating budget.
