Rep. Blackshear Announces $1.6M in Violent Crime Reduction Grant
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Willis Blackshear (D-Dayton) today announced that $1.6M in awards have been announced to help law enforcement agencies implement violent crime reduction strategies in Ohio. The funding is part of the Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program which allocates grant funding to improve the capacity of local law enforcement departments to investigate violent crime.
“I am excited to announce that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received $85,000 in the recent wave of funding for this program. These dollars will go toward improving technology to prevent and investigate criminal activity in our community,” said Rep. Blackshear.
The Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program began in 2021 and received continued support through the 2024-2025 Operating Budget. Montgomery County was 1 of 15 counties to receive support through this round of funding. To date Montgomery County has received over $4.9 million through this program.
