Rep. Blackshear Announces $1,254,000 in Grants to Combat Homelessness in Montgomery County
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Willis Blackshear (D-Dayton) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development awarded $1,254,000 in grants to combat homelessness in Montgomery County.
“I am elated to see needed dollars allocated to outstanding organizations in my district that combat homelessness. We need to prioritize affordable housing initiatives here in Ohio to ensure that every person has a place to live,” said Rep. Blackshear.
Funding was allocated to this/these nonprofit and local government agencies:
- Daybreak, Inc. $330K
- Miami Valley Community Action Partnership $220K
- St. Vincent de Paul Social Services, Inc. $704K
In total, $20.5M was awarded through the Homeless Crisis Response program to assist 47 nonprofit and local government agencies across the state with homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing, and emergency shelter services. The funds will assist 34 agencies operating emergency shelters and support 13 housing stability programs to benefit 64,676 Ohioans.
