Rep. Brown's House Bill 567 to increase transparency regarding filings with courts heads to the Governor's desk
COLUMBUS– State Rep. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 567, to require the Clerks of Courts of Common Pleas make the court’s general docket, including documents on each case file, available on that court’s website.
“I am glad to see this bi-partisan legislation pass through the House and the Senate,” said Rep. Brown. “This bill will increase transparency and ensures every county in Ohio will be meeting the same basic standard.”
This legislation will:
Generally allows the public to gain access to the general dockets of Courts of Common Pleas;
Sets a common standard of transparency for counties across Ohio;
Saves time and resources for the staff working in the courts.
House Bill 567 now heads to the Governor’s desk.
