Rep. Brown's Bills to Save Taxpayer Money, Designate Lupus Awareness Month Heads to Governor's Desk
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Richard D. Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today announced his bills to save taxpayer money and designate May as Lupus Awareness Month were sent to the governor’s desk.
“Once again, Republicans have passed a series of harmful bills in the dead of night while Ohioans were asleep,” said Rep. Brown. “While these actions are appalling, I am proud to announce that my bills, House Bill 390 and House Bill 538, have successfully passed both chambers and are now on their way to the governor’s desk to be signed into law.”
House Bill (HB) 390 is a bipartisan bill that revises existing Ohio law regarding the notice of excess funds to a taxpayer after property tax foreclosure and streamlines the process of notification for county officials. HB 538, designates the month of May as Lupus Awareness Month, in order to promote education and research on the disease.
“These bills are a small win for our communities, but a great step forward in improving the lives of all Ohioans,” said Rep. Brown.
EDITOR’S NOTE: HB 390 was amended into HB 315 and HB 538 was amended into Senate Bill 234.
