Rep. Brown urges caution as Franklin County upgraded to "Purple" for COVID-19 spread
Assistant Minority Whip Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today urged constituents to proceed with caution after Franklin County was upgraded to Level Four or “Purple” on Ohio’s Public Health Advisory System. Purple is the highest-level rating on the advisory system and indicates severe exposure and spread of COVID-19 in the county.
“With vaccinations quickly being rolled out, the light at the end of the tunnel is near,” said Rep. Brown. “However, that does not mean that we can let our guard down. As Franklin County is upgraded to Purple, we should all be redoubling our efforts to maintain COVID safe choices, like wearing a mask and social distancing, and be working together to finally end this pandemic.”
The Ohio Department of Health advises Ohioans in a Purple County to “only leave home for supplies and services.” Residents should also wear masks, avoid large gatherings and wash their hands frequently.
Vaccines are the best, most effective tool to control the COVID-19 virus. Ohioans 16 years old or over can schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointment at gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov.
