COLUMBUS – On Wednesday, Rep. Richard D. Brown (D-Canal Winchester) proudly hosted at the Statehouse the Reynoldsburg High School girls basketball team, the “Lady Raiders,” for securing the 2022 Division I State Championship.

“I am so proud of the Reynoldsburg Lady Raiders on their historic state championship win,” said Rep. Brown. “This is the first time in Reynoldsburg school history that the high school girls basketball team has won a state championship game. Led by Head Coach Jack Purtell, this team worked tirelessly to earn this accomplishment. I am honored to have hosted them at the Statehouse this week to recognize and celebrate their success. Congratulations to the team and their families on this extraordinary win.”

Rep. Brown presented the team with an official resolution from the Ohio House of Representatives to celebrate their victory. During House Session, the team was welcomed by members of the House of Representatives and recognized by Rep. Brown on the floor.

In the championship game played at the University of Dayton on March 12, 2022, the team was at one point trailing behind by eleven points before tying the game in the final quarter, sending the game into overtime. The Lady Raiders came back and won against the Mason Comets 63-56 in overtime to win the Division I State Championship, the first in school history for the sport.
