COLUMBUS— State Rep. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today announced Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants will be made available to cover certain local pandemic response costs in Ohio. Funds will go to state and local authorities as well as non-profits, such as hospitals, working at the direction of local governments.

“Local governments are a vital component of our state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am glad that our call for increased federal funding to support our first responders on the job combatting COVID-19 has been finally heard by Washington D.C.,”  said Rep. Brown.

Once an application for reimbursement is approved, FEMA will cover 75 percent of certain pandemic response costs, such as:

  • Emergency Operation Center costs;
  • State agency purchases in response to COVID-19;
  • Disinfection of eligible public facilities;
  • Personal Protection Equipment;
  • Temporary medical facilities and enhanced hospital capacity.

Grant application forms and other information on public assistance for COVID-19 response efforts can be found on the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Management Agency website.

Completed funding application requests should be sent to emarecovery@dps.ohio.gov
