Mike Loychik News

State Rep. Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) supported Ohio’s K-12 School Safety Grants totaling $378,500 for Mathews Local Schools in Trumbull County. The grant announcements were made on Tuesday.

Loychik noted his efforts on collaborating with the Governor’s office and the local school district to secure the funding.

“These grants will provide the necessary dollars to help further protect our students, teachers, and staff at the Mathews Local Schools,” Loychik said. “We must keep working to provide safety and security at our schools throughout our local communities.”

Loychik previously voted to support this funding through the previous General Assembly’s state operating budget as the K-12 School Safety Grant Program launched in 2021.

The program helps schools pay for physical security expenses such as new security cameras, public address systems, automatic door locks, visitor badging systems, and exterior lighting.

The breakdown of the funding is as follows:

·         Baker Elementary School - $100,000

·         Currie Elementary School - $78,500

·         Mathews High School - $100,000

·         Mathews Junior High School - $100,000
