COLUMBUS – State Representative Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) has submitted a request for a capital budget project that will grant BRITE Energy Innovators, a 501C3 organization, $1 million dollars.

This funding, if granted, would be utilized to renovate the first floor and the mezzanine convening and co-working space to best serve as a catalyst for community development locally and economic development statewide.

BRITE has strategic partnerships with Eastern Gateway Community College, Youngstown State University, the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and numerous other workforce and community partners including but not limited to the Mahoning Valley Manufacturing Coalition, Warren City School District, and other after school programs.

Among BRITE’s dozens of portfolio companies is Hyperion Motors, which recently announced it will invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Ohio to manufacture hydrogen-fueled vehicles. BRITE has also been the catalyst for millions of dollars in private sector investments in Trumbull County, including notable companies Megajoule and Intwine Connect.

In 2018, BRITE, because of capital budget funding, opened a shared-resource space for the testing and development of energy related devices and systems.

“It is imperative that we continue to develop and dedicate resources to the facilities that are responsible for providing education and opportunity to our future generations,” said Loychik.

Regional Chamber President & CEO Guy Coviello thanked Loychik for supporting BRITE.

“We’re pleased to see that Representative Loychik recognizes the value BRITE brings to the Valley economy,” Coviello said. “Being at the focal point of emerging technology, with collaborations that include TeamNEO and JobsOhio, an investment in BRITE is a sound investment in our future.”

BRITE provided the Mahoning Valley with a wonderful community for those in the startup space to flourish. The community seeks $1 million dollars with $250,000 in matching resources for the renovation in order to maximize community engagement, workforce training and innovation in emerging energy technologies.
