State Rep. Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) has offered an amendment to the upcoming operating budget that appropriates $1 million to the Eastern Ohio Military Affairs Commission (EOMAC), which will help fund two military facilities – an increase from the allocation during the previous General Assembly.

“As a former military service member and as Vice-Chair of our Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committee, I’m pleased to announce this amendment I’ve proposed for increased financial assistance of these two military facilities within our region of the state. I look forward to ensuring this funding comes to fruition as we are still in the early stages of working on the budget.”

The amendment specifies that $500,000 for each Fiscal Year (FY) will be appropriated to EOMAC to support the Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center and the Youngstown Air Reserve Station – both located within Northeastern Ohio.

During the 133rd General Assembly, the previous allocation for EOMAC in the operating budget was $300,000 for each FY. Loychik’s proposal would increase that amount by $200,000 for each FY.

The Ohio House continues to hold committee hearings regarding the operating budget as changes and amendments are being offered during the legislative process.
