State Rep. Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) highlights there is available grant funding for local fire departments across Trumbull County for the purpose of SFM equipment and training. The fire departments can now apply for the grants.

“This critical funding is available for our firefighters through legislation I supported with the available equipment and training for fire departments in Trumbull County,” said Loychik. “While some disbursements have occurred, the application window is open again, and I encourage our local fire departments to apply!”

Loychik voted to support House Bill 110, the state operating budget, which allocated the funding to be used for fire department equipment and training costs.

The Ohio Department of Commerce will disperse this funding through the Division of State Fire Marshal’s (SFM) fire department grant program. These grants began distribution in the spring of 2022 and are now continuing the application funding with the available funding. To be eligible for the SFM grant program, the population of the community the Department resides in must be less than 25,000. $200,000 will be available for volunteer departments, township departments, and municipal departments in Trumbull County.

To learn more about the grant program and to apply, please use the existing online SFM Equipment and Training Grant applications found at: https://com.ohio.gov/divisions-and-programs/state-fire-marshal/grants/training-reimbursement-grant.
