COLUMBUS – On Wednesday State Representative Marilyn John (R-Richland County) and her Joint Sponsor, State Representative Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula), gave sponsor testimony on Substitute House Bill 509 in the House State and Local Government Committee.

Substitute House Bill 509 is part of the process to review professional occupational licensure and ensure we are balancing consumer protections and quality standards with best practices, competitive fees, and reasonable education requirements. This occupational licensure review process was established in Senate Bill 255 in the 132nd General Assembly.

“The goal of this legislation is to make the state of Ohio the best place to work, live, and start a business, all while removing barriers one may have when attempting to enter a new career field,” said John.

Throughout the process of undertaking this legislation, Representative John and Representative Fowler Arthur have reviewed materials from 19 state boards as well as other interested parties to be sure the best legislation has been drafted.
